Panama Canal adjusts daily transit capacity due to drought

Starting from 30 July 2023, the Panama Canal will adjust its daily transit capacity to around 32 ocean-going vessels per day, due to drier than normal conditions caused by this year’s El Niño. The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) may further adjust the capacity based on factors such as Gatun Lake level, weather forecasts and vessel mix.
