In June, the Port of Los Angeles handled its highest monthly import volume since July 2022 despite work slowdowns in the weeks leading up to the tentative labor agreement reached on June 14. Still, L.A. Port faced a 24% decline in YoY volumes in the first half of 2023. 2023 import activity has tracked closely to that of 2019 through the mid-year, though potential trend “detachment” is a consideration as the traditional peak season approaches.
