The Unified Command in Baltimore continues efforts to remove containers from the M/V Dali and clear wreckage at the Key Bridge incident site. Salvage teams are prioritizing container removal to reach the portion of the Key Bridge atop the vessel; as of April 11, approximately 38 containers have been removed.
Grace Ocean has declared General Average for its vessel, the Maersk-chartered Dali, due to expected high salvage operation costs.
Despite the disruption of the East Coast supply chain, ocean freight rates remain relatively stable. Xeneta data indicates a slight decrease in spot rates from the Far East to the East Coast, with no significant changes in ship routing or port calls following the bridge collapse.
The Port of Baltimore expects to restore normal port access by the end of May.
