The U.S. is considering broadening the scope of Section 232 tariffs to cover additional steel, aluminum, and auto parts.
The Bureau of Industry and Security is accepting requests until September 29 to add more derivative steel and aluminum products to the existing 50% tariff.

In addition, the Department of Commerce has issued an interim final rule permitting domestic auto and parts manufacturers to request tariff extensions on certain imported auto parts during designated two-week periods, starting October 1, 2025, with future windows opening quarterly.
