China–U.S. Container Traffic Softens Ahead of Peak Season

Despite the approach of peak shipping season, container traffic from China to the U.S. is trending downward. The SONAR Inbound Ocean TEUs Volume Index for China-U.S. lanes has declined.
Container volumes reached a record high in May. However, exports to North and South America dropped, while European imports rose by 10% year-over-year.
