U.S. Reaches Trade Agreements with Southeast Asian Countries

On October 26, the White House announced that the U.S. has reached reciprocal trade agreements with Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. Under these agreements, each country will remove certain import tariffs on U.S. goods.

Malaysia

The U.S. will continue a 19% tariff on Malaysian goods. Malaysia will open its markets to U.S. agricultural and industrial exports, including measures addressing non-tariff barriers.

Vietnam

The U.S. will maintain a 20% tariff on Vietnamese goods. Vietnam will remove tariffs and non-tariff barriers on U.S. agricultural and industrial products.

Cambodia

Cambodia will eliminate tariffs on U.S. goods, including food, agricultural, and industrial products. The U.S. will maintain a 19% tariff on Cambodian goods.

Thailand

A framework agreement was reached, with Thailand removing tariffs on approximately 99% of U.S. agricultural and industrial exports. The U.S. will continue a 19% tariff on Thai goods.
