On September 29, 2025, President Trump issued a proclamation imposing Section 232 tariffs on imported timber, lumber, and related products, effective October 14, 2025.
The tariffs include a 10% global duty on softwood lumber, 25% on certain upholstered furniture (rising to 30% on January 1), and 25% on kitchen cabinets and vanities (rising to 50% on January 1).
Exceptions apply for goods from the UK, EU, and Japan, and certain products are exempt from overlapping tariffs or may qualify for FTZ or trade agreement preferences.
