President Trump has invoked the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to increase tariffs on certain imports from Brazil from 10% to 50%, citing national security and economic concerns.
The higher tariff rate applies to goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after 12:01 a.m. ET, August 6.

Separately, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has launched a Section 301 investigation into Brazilian trade practices.
