The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has initiated new Section 301 investigations targeting 16 trade partners, including China, Mexico, and the European Union.
The investigations will focus on structural excess capacity and production in sectors such as aluminum, automobiles, and semiconductors. These investigation aim to assess whether policies related to overproduction in these industries are unreasonable or discriminatory, affecting U.S. commerce.
A public comment period will start on March 17, with a hearing scheduled for May 5.
