On March 26, President Trump issued Proclamation 10908, titled “Adjusting Imports of Automobiles and Automobile Parts Into the United States.” Under this proclamation, a 25% additional tariff will be applied to certain imported passenger vehicles, light trucks, and specific automotive parts.

  • The proclamation imposes a 25% tariff on imported passenger vehicles and light trucks classified under specific HTSUS subheadings, effective April 3.
  • Tariffs also apply to auto parts, including engines, transmissions, and electrical components, starting May 3.
  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has clarified that these Section 232 tariffs are not eligible for drawback.
