U.S. ports show healthy cargo volume increases in April, led by East Coast/Gulf ports

Port of Long Beach set a record in April for moving 820,718 TEUs – a 10% increase over last April, when the current record was set. Despite these gains, the Gulf and East Coast ports showed even larger increases as cargo diverted away from the West Coast arrived. The Port of Charleston, South Carolina increased 34%; The Port of Houston spiked 26.5%; and The Ports of New York/New Jersey, climbed 22.4%.
