The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finalized amendments to its prior notice requirements for imported food.
Effective October 27, 2025, importers must submit prior notice within 10 calendar days of receiving a notice of refusal, hold, or an FDA review response, and provide a valid food facility registration within 30 days of such actions.
As for international mail, beginning October 1, 2026, prior notice submissions for food arriving by mail must also include the name of the mail service and the package tracking number.
