The European Council and Parliament have reached a provisional agreement to simplify the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) under the ‘Omnibus I’ legislative package.
The agreement maintains exemptions for small and medium-sized (SMEs) importers—those bringing in less than 50 metric tons of CBAM-covered goods annually.
