Carriers plan to blank Asia sailings as ballast against disruption

With the lockdowns in China persisting into their second month, carriers are planning to blank up to one-third of their sailings to balance capacity against the areas where delays are occurring. The blanks will allow for ships to skip ports that don’t have the labor assets to serve the vessels and should give the US some much needed catch up time to prepare for the cargo increase expected after the end of the lockdowns this summer.
