BIS Launches Section 232 Investigations

Following an agreement between the United States and China to suspend certain tariffs for 90 days, the White House has issued an executive order to lower applied de minimis tariff rates.

Effective May 14, 2025, shipments originating from China and Hong Kong and valued under $800, when sent via international mail, are now subject to either a 54% ad valorem duty or a flat duty of $100.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has released updated guidance outlining the revised de minimis requirements and providing instructions for carriers processing international mail shipments.
